Despite the cold weather, I love this time of year!
The holiday season for me is such a nostalgic time of year where my gratitude is heightened for all the blessings I have.
I love the holiday parties, the holiday decorations, the cheesy christmas music and the reindeer or menorah outfits on cars and houses alike.
The challenge with this time of year is that I always inevitably feel burnt out, in need of a break from all the hustle and bustle, and try to stay on top nutrition as the strew mounts, holiday food surrounds me and i crave comfort food.
Staying on top of clean eating is always a challenge- especially during the holidays!
One of the things that I know my clients are always looking for are different recipes and strategies to try to stay on top of their nutrition at this time of year. Learn more about other ways to get great nutrition in just one sip.
So here is one of my favourites!
I can’t tell you how ridiculously OBSESSED I am with these Smoothie Bowls!
They’re delicious, nutrition, filled with protein, healthy fats, great flavour, packed with fiber, antioxidants and a perfect meal, snack, or treat!
I love my Green Shake Smoothies– but honestly at this time of year, I can’t bring myself to drink an icey smoothy as it sends me into an hypothermic state for the remainder of the day!
I wanted to share this recipe with you in particular because Pomegranates are in season right now and they’re incredible for you!
They’re jam packed with Vitamin C and full of antioxidants to support your immune functioning, make your insides and outside vibrant, they have antioxidant properties and will boost your fibre intake just to name a few!
This Bowl is a prefect meal that will even curb your appetite until your next meal. It is SO delicious!
So I usually have been using IsaPro as my base for the bowl. It is rich, thick, creamy and full of Protein (36 grams to be exact) and the taste profile is incredible.
I do make my bowls with other alternatives- please see other options below recipe
INGREDIENTS
1 packet IsaPro
3/4c almond milk
TOPPINGS:
Seeds from 1/2 a pomegranate 🙂 about 1/3-1/2c
1tsbp PB2 (dried peanut butter)
10 almonds crushed
1 tbsp chia seeds
BLEND Isa Pro with Almond Milk
Pour into a bowl
Adorn your protein Rich Bowl with all toppings in whatever fashion you like! ENJOY!
BOWL BASE OPTION 1:
1/4 almond milk
1/2 banana
1cup greek Yogurt
1tsp cocoa powder
Blend together- adjust amount of almond milk to increase thickness. You want the consistency to be thick like a custard so you can spoon it- but adjust as you like it. 🙂
BOWL BASE OPTION 2:
1/2 c almond milk or coconut milk
1 scoop chocolate Protein Powder (I love Progressive Nutritions WheyEssential) OR Your Fav Protein Powder!
Blend together- again adjust amount of almond milk to increase thickness.
